The Pilates Consortium of Southeast Asia
Director, Mary Ann Briggs
Mary Ann began her Pilates Certification journey with Brett Howard in New York, New York, USA. After completing the Classical Pilates Program with Mr. Howard, she then transferred her hours to Traditional Authentic Pilates where she obtained her first Pilates Certification. In order to complete the T.A.P. Certification, Ms. Briggs completed over 600 combined hours of personal observation of Certified Pilates Instructors, self-practice and teaching. After teaching for 2 years on Cape Cod, MA, she moved with her family to the Metro Atlanta Georgia area where she opened her studio, The Pilates Loft in Newnan, GA. In 2008, Mary Ann met Pilates Elder, Lolita San Miguel, one of only two people to actually hold a certificate of completion from Joseph Pilates. She was then invited to join the inaugural group “A” of Lolita’s Master Trainer Program. This involved over two years of extensive training under the tutelage of Ms. San Miguel making Mary Ann a 2nd Generation Pilates Practioner. Mary Ann then went on to become a Teacher Trainer of the Lolita’s Legacy Certification Program. Having successfully trained numerous trainees under this program, Ms. Briggs was then invited to become a teacher trainer for Core Dynamics Pilates Certification. This enabled her to explore the work of Pilates Elder Eve Gentry and to work closely with Kevin Bowen, one of the founders of The Pilates Method Alliance and a leader in the Pilates Industry. In 2022, Ms. Briggs sold her studio and moved to Siem Reap, Cambodia. In 2024 Mary Ann accepted a leadership position with Pilates Studio KMK in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This move enabled her to bring Pilates to more people in Cambodia in addition to the Pilates Consortium Teach Trainer Program to Pilates enthusiasts. Her goal is to bring The Pilates Method to the Cambodian culture. Mary Ann is excited to bring the combined work of all her mentors into The Pilates Consortium.
